European Migration Pact

THE REGULATION on asylum and migration management

Since 2015 the European Union has seen several of the consecutive migration crises that had led to the emergence of Millions of the Asylum seekers to the frontline nations of the Schengen Area in the last decade. However, as the new challenges are emerging concerning both scale and capacity of the member nations to accommodate such amounts of the refugees into its bureaucratic system the European Council have proposed a migration pact as a remedy to the ongoing inflow of the immigrants. Based on the system of both voluntary and obligatory mechanism the pact serves as a mechanism to transfer responsibility and applicants from the border nations to the ones of the central Europe and as such decrease the burden on the Asylum Agencies of the EU in the region. Based on the idea of the solidarity it proposes the ability to either contribute financially or systematically by providing the capacity for the relocation of the Asylum seekers. However, is it possible for the member states to find consensus on such politically divisive topic in a Union driven by migration skepticism and government driven by right protectionism?
